Talking seals again ……

This male Subantarctic Fur Seal  (Arctocephalus tropicalis) hauled out at Blue Bend Nature Reserve (East London, SA) in May 2007. Noticably different from the endemic Cape Fur Seal by the orange-buff facial mask to chest. Sometimes a conspicuous tuft of raised hair may be seen on the head. They can dive to a depth of 208 m and remain under water for up to 6 minutes.
