Snared Common Duiker – Qinira River East London

Sad to have noted this antelope in the Qinira River this past weekend. The species is a Common Duiker, Sylvicarpa grimmia, which had been snared by a trace of thick wire. It is presumed to have drowned while attempting to cross the river. Common Duiker grow to a shoulder height of 50 cm and can attain a mass of 18 kg.
