New pottery find at Gonubie …

The Kockott family and especially young Angus are thanked for alerting the museum to pottery sherds on a coastal dune at the Gonubie River mouth. Further investigation this week by the museum and the family revealed a deflated midden (due to dune slumping) and a new find of a broken pot. This specimen contains the fill of a red sandy soil which was carried in from elsewhere (see pic below). The pottery has yet to be classified. The lower jaw of a predator was also discovered close by and this will be investigated further.
