Stone tool site discovered …..

Mr. and Mrs. Trevor Wesson of Kleinemonde are thanked for taking the trouble to provide access to the coast between Mpekwini and the Fish River (Eastern Cape, SA), where a stone tool site was discovered by museum scientist K. Cole.

A number of core stone, flakes and blades were noted scattered across a wide area. Set in a dynamic environment which has a mobile dune system, it is surmised that the site can be covered at times with a substantial layer of sand. Investigations as to whether Middle and Late Stone Age tools are represented will be determined by transects of the area at a later date.
