Undocumented photo of the Orient shipwreck 1907

Museum conservator, Deon Smit, was cataloguing a very old photo album from Gately House today when he stumbled upon a sepia photograph of a shipwreck. The annotation on the back of the photo simply read ‘West Bank’. Using a hand lens and comparing it to an original painting of the Orient (see earlier post) it was confirmed to be the wreck of the same, possibly quite soon after lodging on the rocks.
